For one recently qualified MITO apprentice, a chance encounter has made his career dream come true! When Cameron McCormack happened to meet David Taylor of Motorsport Services, Auckland – a company that specialises in servicing exclusive, high-performance racing cars, it turned out to be the turning point for motor-racing-mad Cameron. A few months later David offered him part-time work with the company’s race team. Today, he’s working for the business full time, helping to ensure the cars – mainly Porsches – are in prime condition for their owners and the intensely competitive events in which they drive. “I’ve always wanted to get into motor racing, so it’s amazing to have this opportunity,” says Cameron. “I’m learning a lot, including about all the technology that goes into these cars, and I get to do things like test drive the cars before we deliver them to the race track. It’s the best break I could have asked for!” |
