Mini Challenge Series 2008-2009

MINI Challenge

The series uses current-model MINI Cooper S cars with John Cooper Works (JCW) performance enhancements and has been a runaway success in Europe following races in UK, Belgium, Italy and Germany. Plans are now underway to investigate launching the concept in Australia, China, USA and Japan.

The MINI Challenge will involve 21 races at seven major national meetings - Pukekohe, Christchurch, Invercargill, Timaru, Palmerston North and Taupo included - over six months. Twenty cars will contest the inaugural series.

The cars are equipped with a JCW tuning kit which means they are supercharged to 210bhp (145kw). It’s pretty impressive considering they are only a four cylinder, 1600cc engine.

The lively Minis also have the JCW racing suspension and brakes, a six-speed gearbox, the genuine MINI aerodynamic package and will be tearing up the track on 17-inch cross spoke rims and Dunlop racing tyres.
